If you only practice when you feel like it, you’re not practicing. You’re visiting.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Practice that depends on enthusiasm is really a series of pleasant visits, and visits do not accumulate. The gains come from the sessions you would not have chosen, because those keep the schedule continuous, and continuity is what builds anything. Motivation makes a poor timetable, since it arrives and leaves without reference to your goals. A fixed time asks nothing of your mood.
Put two or three sessions in the calendar this week at specific times and treat them like a shift. Go when you do not feel like it and allow them to be mediocre. Count attendance rather than quality for the first month.
