Captains run the drills too. Asking people to do what you skip is how teams stop listening.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Exemption is corrosive. The moment the person asking does not do the thing themselves, the request stops being a shared standard and becomes an instruction from someone with privileges, and groups stop listening to that surprisingly fast. Running the drill alongside everyone costs you the same twenty minutes it costs them. What it buys is the right to ask again tomorrow.

Look for the thing you expect from others and skip yourself, however small: the warm-up, the tidy-up, arriving on time. Do it with them this week without pointing out that you are doing it. Notice whether you have to ask twice as often afterwards.
