If the hypocrites at church bug you, good news: there’s room for one more honest person.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Noticing the gap between what people profess and how they behave is not a reason to leave, though it gets used as one. Any group of humans will contain that gap, including you, which is the uncomfortable part of the observation. The useful response is to be one more person who does not widen it. Criticism from inside, lived rather than announced, is worth more than withdrawal.
If a group frustrates you for this reason, pick the one way you can be straightforward within it. Say what you actually think when asked, and keep what you promise. Allow other people the inconsistency you allow yourself.
Could you be the honest one in a room that bothers you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
