Forgiveness doesn’t always erase consequences. It erases the wall between you and God.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Two different things get tangled together here. One is whether you are still held, and the other is whether the mess still has to be cleaned up. Being let off the second is not what forgiveness promised. So people see the fallout still sitting there, conclude they were never actually forgiven, and carry both the consequence and the shame.

Separate them on paper this week. Write down what still needs sorting out, the apology, the grade, the money, the repair, and treat that list as cleanup rather than punishment. Then let the shame go, because it is not helping you do any item on it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What still has consequences even though you have been forgiven?
