Five minutes with God on your lunch break can change the second half of your shift.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A shift has a tipping point and it usually comes right after the break. You go back out either carrying everything from the first half or having put some of it down, and nothing about the customers or the kitchen decides which. Five quiet minutes is not an escape from the job. It changes the person who walks back onto the floor, and that is the only variable actually under your control.

On Saturday, spend the first five minutes of your break alone and silent rather than scrolling. Say what you need to say, then go back in and notice whether the back half runs differently.
