When your parent apologizes to you, take it. It probably took them years to learn how.

An apology from a parent is often the end of a long private process you never saw. Many people were raised without ever seeing one, so saying it at all means unlearning something. Receiving it badly, with a shrug or a list of their other offences, closes a door that was hard to open. Taking it does not mean saying the hurt did not happen.
If one comes this week, say thank you and leave it there. You can still hold what you hold, and you do not owe a matching apology on the spot. Just do not make them regret the attempt.
How did you respond the last time a parent apologized?
