Watching a Christian you admired fall can shake your faith. Remember, your faith was never supposed to rest on them.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

When somebody you looked up to turns out to have been doing something else, two things break: your opinion of them and your confidence in what they taught you. The second is the part worth examining. Admiration quietly becomes structural without anyone deciding it should, and the structure goes when the person does. What they said can still be true even if they were not.

If that has happened to you, take the time it needs and let nobody hurry you. Then separate two questions on paper: what you believe, and who you believed it through. Find more than one person to learn from next time.
