Thomas wanted proof, and Jesus showed up with the wounds instead of a lecture.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The response to a demand for evidence was not an argument about why demanding evidence is wrong. It was the evidence. Whatever you make of it, the shape of that exchange is worth copying: a specific request met with the specific thing, no correction attached. Most people meet a hard question with a reprimand, which teaches the asker to stop asking.

When somebody brings you a difficult question this week, answer the question. Resist the urge to comment on their attitude or their timing first. And if you do not know, say so instead of filling the space with advice.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When did somebody answer your doubt with patience instead of correction?
