Authority looks total when you are standing underneath it. From where you sit, your coach picks the lineup and your manager picks the hours, and it can seem like nothing presses on them. It does. They are being measured by somebody, carrying a bad week you cannot see, answering for decisions they did not make alone.

The next time one of them is short with you, assume a pressure you have not been told about. You do not have to excuse it. Just hold off on deciding it was about you.
