Grace means God saw the receipt for everything you did and paid it anyway.

Grace is not the same as pretending nothing happened. The debt was itemized, read and understood, and then it was covered anyway, which is a harder and more honest thing than looking away. Being forgiven without being seen would leave you wondering. Being seen in full and kept anyway is what actually settles a person.

When you forgive somebody this week, do it with your eyes open. Say the cost to yourself clearly, and then decide not to collect it. Stop replaying the bill after you have torn it up.
