Strength allows independence to last longer.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Independence is usually described as a matter of money or temperament, but it rests on a physical floor. The ability to carry your own groceries, climb your own stairs, and get yourself where you need to go is what keeps choice in your hands. When that floor thins, decisions quietly migrate to other people, however much you would prefer otherwise. Strength is not vanity; it is the length of time you get to keep deciding.
Look at what you currently do without help and ask which of those things you would like to still be doing in twenty years. Pick one capacity that supports it, carrying, balance, walking distance, and give it two short sessions this week. The aim is not performance, only keeping the option open.
Which task do you most want to keep doing without help?
