The power went out and suddenly everyone was in one room talking by candlelight. Funny what it takes.

Most evenings your family is in the same building and nowhere near each other. Screens scatter people into separate rooms without anybody deciding to leave, and it takes a failure in the wiring to put them back in one place. What came back during the outage was not electricity but a reason to be together. The reason was that there was nothing else to do.
You can produce the outage on purpose. Pick one evening, turn off the lights, put the phones in a drawer, and sit in one room with a pack of cards. Just be the person who starts it.
What had to break before your family sat together?
