Walk at your grandma’s pace once instead of rushing ahead. You’ll hear stories you’d have missed.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Speed decides what a walk can contain. Going at her pace means there is time for the thing she remembers about that corner, the story that needs four minutes and does not survive being hurried. Walking ahead gets you there sooner and arrives with nothing. The slower version is the one with the content in it.

Take a short walk with her this month and let her set the speed, with no destination that has a time attached. Ask one question about something you pass. If walking is not possible, sit with her for half an hour and apply the same rule.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who do you walk ahead of instead of beside?
