If you only notice the one thing broken in your room, you’ve forgotten the twenty things that work.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Attention is drawn to faults by design. One broken thing in a room takes up more space in your head than twenty working ones, because problems are what your mind is built to hunt for and solved things stay silent. That makes your sense of your own circumstances systematically unfair to itself. The working twenty are still working; they are simply not calling for you.

Stand in your room this week and count the things that function. Light, door, bed, heat, all of it. Then fix or accept the broken one, and notice it was always a single item on a long list.
