Someone was out painting the lines on that field before your game. Fields don’t mark themselves.

GRATITUDE
Fields do not mark themselves. Before a game somebody measured, dragged a machine up and down, set the nets and checked the surface, and the better the job the less anybody thinks about it, because a properly prepared field just looks like a field. The preparation is finished before the first person you would call a participant turns up. The game sits on top of hours nobody watched.
Get to the next one early enough to see the setup, and thank whoever is doing it. Then take a turn at that work yourself, carrying gear, lining up cones, putting things away after everybody has gone.
