The neighbor who brought cold drinks out while you mowed taught you more about kindness than a lecture could.

GRATITUDE
Noticing somebody working and acting on it is a short chain of thought that almost nobody completes. Watching a kid mow in the heat, going inside, pouring a drink and carrying it out takes a small decision and two minutes, and it teaches more about decency than any speech on the subject. Kindness demonstrated gets kept. Kindness explained mostly gets forgotten.
Finish the chain yourself this week. When you see somebody working outside, in your family or on your street, take them something cold. The point is the doing rather than the intending.
Who brought you something while you were doing hard work?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
