Sharing someone’s screenshot without asking is breaking a trust you were never given.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

A message sent to you was sent to you, and receiving it transfers no right to pass it on. People write differently when they believe one person is reading, and forwarding that changes the meaning by changing the audience. They did not choose to say it to a group, and that choice was theirs to make.

Before you screenshot anything, ask whether you would send it if they could watch you doing it. When you do want to share something, ask them first, in plain words. It takes one message and it keeps you the sort of person people tell things to.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which private message have you forwarded without asking first?
