Give the next generation fewer wounds they have to rename as tradition.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some families pass on injuries and then rename them, calling harshness discipline or coldness strength, so the next generation inherits both the wound and the vocabulary for defending it. Breaking that requires noticing when you are about to justify something you would not want done to you. It is not about being a perfect parent or relative. It is about not handing along damage with a respectable name.

Watch for the moment you hear yourself explaining a harsh choice with a word like toughness. Ask what it would look like without the justification. Fewer inherited wounds is a realistic goal even when perfection is not.
