If your team won because of a rule nobody noticed you broke, you didn’t win. You got away with something.

LEADERSHIP
Getting away with something and succeeding at it are different events that happen to look alike from outside. The scoreboard records the result, not the method, and you are the only one holding both pieces. You cannot celebrate what you know was not earned, so you carry a win and a secret in the same hand.
Telling your coach is still available if it has already happened, and it brings more relief than embarrassment. Going forward, call your own infringement at the time, while it costs a point rather than a season. A clean loss is the only kind you can put down.
Would your win survive a careful look at the rules?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
