Free food from work that nobody offered you is just shoplifting with a name tag.

Access is not permission, and a job hands you a great deal of access. Standing behind the counter means nobody will question you, which is trust rather than opportunity, and the losses show up later as locked fridges and a manager counting things. Plenty of places do offer food; the distinction is whether somebody said yes.
Ask what you are allowed to take and stay inside it, because the answer is often more generous than you would guess. If nobody has told you, treat it as a no until you have asked. The question takes ten seconds and removes the problem permanently.
Does your name tag make helping yourself feel allowed?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
