The strike zone shouldn’t change based on who’s batting. Neither should your standards.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Fairness is mostly consistency. A rule that bends depending on who it lands on is not really a rule, it is a preference wearing a rule’s clothes, and people feel the difference even when they cannot prove it. The awkward part is that the bending almost always happens in favour of people you like.
Take a standard you say you hold and picture your closest friend on the wrong side of it. If your answer moves, the standard was never the thing doing the work. Find one case this week and hold the line in the direction that costs you something.
Whose presence makes your standards bend a little?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
