There’s a specific kind of proud that only comes from something you did without shortcuts.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

There is a feeling available only on the long route, and it is quieter than the other kind. It comes from knowing, with nobody there to confirm it, that the thing in front of you is an accurate record of what you can do. Anything with a shortcut inside keeps a small hole in the middle, and you are the only person who can see it.

Finish one thing properly this week: a set of problems with no answer key open, a run without stopping early, a job taken to the end. Notice what it feels like afterwards. That feeling is worth building a habit around.
