Character is the homework nobody grades and everybody notices.

No teacher collects it and no transcript records it, so it is easy to treat as optional. Everyone around you is reading it constantly anyway, from how you handle a mistake to whether your story stays the same when changing it would be convenient. The absence of a grade is not the absence of a result.

Pick one thing nobody would ever check and do it properly this week. Return the cart, finish the shift the right way, correct the number that landed in your favour. The score turns up later, in how much people will trust you with.
