The behaviour of the adults you live with usually has a history attached that nobody ever explained to you. Rules about money, food, lateness or noise often began as somebody’s experience long before you existed, and they were kept because they once worked. Seeing a rule as a history rather than a random imposition does not oblige you to agree with it. It does make for a better argument.
Ask one of your parents why they are strictest about the thing they are strictest about. Ask on a calm day, as a real question, and listen to the whole answer before you reply.
What rule of your parents have you never asked the reason for?
