Reputation is an asset no contract can fully protect.

You cannot write a contract that protects how people regard you. Agreements can secure money, property, and obligations, but the willingness of others to work with you, believe you, and give you the benefit of the doubt sits entirely outside any enforceable document. It is the most valuable thing most people own and the least protected. It can also be lost without anyone breaching anything.
Treat decisions that affect how you are seen as more consequential than the contractual ones. Ask what a choice would cost in willingness rather than in money. That column rarely appears on the spreadsheet and usually matters more.
