If you can’t find the answer, find someone who’s stuck on the same question. Two confused people beat one.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being stuck alone is quiet and circular, because you keep returning to the same assumption that caused the problem in the first place. Another person stuck at the same place has a different wrong idea, a different half of the explanation and different questions, and between you there is usually enough to get through. Neither of you has to be the one who knows. The talking does it.

Find somebody else stuck on the same thing and work on it out loud together this week. Say your reasoning as you go, doubts included. If you both fail, you now have a far better question.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which classmate could you be confused alongside instead of alone?
