“Show me” is the best follow-up to “it’s easy.” Easy for who?

Easy is never a property of the task, only of the person describing it. Someone who has done a thing a thousand times has forgotten the steps they automated, so their estimate is honest and useless at the same time. Asking to watch turns their vague confidence into something you can copy.

When a person brushes off your question by calling it simple, ask them to do it in front of you. Watch their hands rather than their explanation. The parts they skip describing are usually the parts that were tripping you.
