Curiosity is cheap to start and expensive to fake. People can tell which one you have.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Real interest shows in small behaviours: what you ask about next, how long you stay with an answer, whether you remember what you were told. Those are hard to perform, which is why manufactured enthusiasm reads as hollow even when the words are correct. It also costs nothing to begin, since the first move is only paying attention.

Rather than preparing impressive questions, go after something you genuinely want to know this week. Follow one answer into a second question. The difference between the two is visible to everybody in the room.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where have you performed interest you did not actually feel?
