Speak first, perfect the grammar later. Nobody ever made a friend by conjugating correctly in silence.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Silence protects your grammar and costs you the language. Speaking badly puts you into real exchanges where correction, repetition and need do the teaching, while waiting until you are ready keeps you in a classroom of one. Fluency is built out of imperfect conversations and there is no route around them.

Find one person to speak with this week and accept that you will be clumsy. Order something, ask for directions, talk to a relative in their first language. Count the exchanges, not the errors.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who could you have talked to if perfect were not required?
