Take apart something that’s already broken. Curiosity is cheaper when there’s nothing left to ruin.

Fear of breaking something is what keeps most people from ever seeing inside it. A thing that is already broken removes that cost completely, so you can be clumsy, lose a screw, snap a clip and still learn the layout. The lesson comes from the taking apart, not from a successful repair.
Find something dead in a drawer and open it with whatever tools you have. Lay the parts out in the order they come off. You might even fix it, but the map in your head is the real result.
What around you is broken enough to safely take apart?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
