Sharpen the knife before you complain about the onion. Fix your tools before you blame the task.

A blunt blade makes every vegetable feel like hard work, and the frustration points at the onion because that is what your hands are on. Most tasks that feel unreasonably difficult have something similar underneath: the wrong size spanner, a laptop with forty tabs open, notes you cannot read, practice shoes a size too small. Checking the equipment is unglamorous and often explains the whole problem.
Think of one thing you dread doing and look at what you are doing it with. Sharpen, charge, tidy, replace or reorganise it before the next attempt. See how much of the dread was ever about the task.
Which dull tool are you blaming the work for?
