Volunteering for a day won’t change the world. It will change how you see it.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
One afternoon of work does not move a problem much, and pretending otherwise is a good way to feel fraudulent. What it does move is your information. You meet the people the problem happens to, you find out what the work involves, and the abstraction you were carrying gets replaced by something specific. That exchange tends to last longer than the shift did.
Sign up for one thing where you will be in the room rather than giving from a distance. A food bank shift, a cleanup, helping at a younger kids’ practice. Go once and skip deciding in advance what it will teach you.
Which single day of helping changed how you see things?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
