Your bedroom and your snacks will end up in a museum about this decade someday. Ordinary life is tomorrow’s history.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Museums are full of ordinary objects from previous decades: kitchens, posters, packaging, the contents of somebody’s room. Everything in yours is currently just stuff, and it is also the material future people will use to work out what life felt like now. Ordinary is the raw ingredient of history, which is why so little of it gets saved on purpose.
Photograph your room exactly as it is, without tidying first. Do the same with whatever you eat most weeks, since that is the part nobody thinks to record.
Which everyday object of yours would puzzle a future visitor?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
