Simple does not mean shallow.

Something can be easy to understand and still be the product of considerable depth. The plain sentence, the simple design, the short rule may each be the survivor of a long process of learning what could be discarded. People mistake accessibility for a lack of substance, when it is often the opposite. What is difficult to follow is frequently just unrefined.

Do not be embarrassed to give the plain version of something you know deeply. And do not assume that the complicated presentation you are hearing contains more. Ask what the simple form would be.
