One day carries almost no information about the direction you are travelling. A bad one feels like a verdict because it is the only one visible from here, and from further out it is a single point among thousands with no particular weight. A trend needs more than one reading before it means anything.

If today went badly, record it as one entry rather than as evidence. Look at the last month instead, and judge yourself on that if you are going to judge yourself at all.
