Caring a lot about something isn’t cringe. Pretending not to care about anything is the real tired look.

Enthusiasm is easy to mock because it is exposed. Somebody who openly loves a band, a subject or a sport has shown what they want, and anybody can score a cheap point off that. Pretending nothing matters looks safer, and it is also the dullest available position, because having no stake in anything leaves you nothing to say and nothing to look forward to.

Be obvious about one thing you love this week. Wear the shirt, talk about the hobby, go to the event alone if nobody else will come.
