A belief you kept after really questioning it is stronger than one you never touched.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
An untested belief is held the way a coat is held, because it was handed to you and you never put it down. Taking it apart is frightening precisely because you might not get it back. What comes out the other side, if it survives, is yours in a way it never was before: you know the objections, you have felt the weight of them, and you still chose it.
Take one thing you believe, about faith, politics, how people are, and sit with the hardest question about it for an hour. Ask someone who disagrees. Whatever you end up holding, you will hold it more honestly.
