An aesthetic is a costume. Character is whatever’s left once you take it off.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

A look can be assembled in an afternoon: the clothes, the playlist, the way the photos are edited, the words you use. It is fun and it is genuinely expressive, and it is also removable. What stays when all of it is off is how you treat people when there is nothing to gain, what you do when you are bored, whether your word means anything.

Enjoy the costume and spend some attention on the other part. Pick one character habit to work on this week: keeping a promise nobody would check on, or being decent to somebody who cannot help you. Nobody will photograph it.
