Nerves shrink when you’ve actually prepared. Most “I’m not confident” is really “I’m not ready yet.”

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

A lot of what feels like a personality problem is a preparation problem. The nerves that will not settle are often accurate: some part of you knows the material is not learned, the lines are not down, the shift routine is still a guess. That version of fear goes away when the work gets done, which is a much better position than needing to become a different person.

Before the next thing you dread, ask what exactly you are not ready for and spend an hour on that specifically. Rehearse the opening out loud. Nerves that survive genuine preparation are just adrenaline, and you can work with those.
