Small lies get easier with practice. So does telling the truth. Choose which one you’re practicing.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Both directions are habits, and habits get built out of the small instances nobody would notice. Each convenient untruth lowers the cost of the next, and after a while it stops feeling like a decision at all. The same mechanism runs in reverse, which is the useful part.
Watch the next few low-stakes moments: why you were late, whether you read it, how the shift went. Say the plain version even when the smooth version would cost nothing. You are not building a reputation so much as a reflex, and the reflex is what holds under pressure.
Which small untruth do you tell so often it feels harmless?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
