You don’t have to pick one thing to be. Plenty of people are a hooper, a poet and a decent cook at once.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The pressure to specialize early comes from forms and introductions rather than from how people actually live. Several interests do not dilute each other; they feed each other, and somebody with three is harder to knock over than somebody with one. A single label exists for other people’s convenience.
Keep the two things you do that seem unrelated, especially when somebody asks which one you are serious about. Give the smaller one an hour a week so it survives the busy season. When you introduce yourself, try naming two of them and watch the conversation improve.
Which three unrelated things would you list about yourself?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
