Ownership begins after the excitement of acquiring ends.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Buying something is the enjoyable part and the shortest part. What follows is storing it, cleaning it, insuring it, repairing it, and eventually deciding what to do with it, and none of that was part of the appeal. Most people evaluate a purchase on the acquisition and then live in the ownership for years. The two experiences are barely related.
Before buying anything substantial, picture the third year rather than the first week. Ask what it will require of you routinely. If the answer is more than you want to give, the excitement is not enough of a reason.
What did you eagerly take on and then quietly stop tending?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
