A question asked twice is usually a different question the second time. Listen for the change.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Repetition means something did not land, and the second version carries information the first one did not. When somebody asks again, they are usually asking what they actually wanted to know, now that your first answer showed them where you stand. People circle a thing before they can say it plainly. The second attempt is the real one.

If somebody asks you something twice this week, answer the second version rather than repeating yourself, and consider asking what they are really after. When you are the one asking again, say the harder version out loud. It saves you both the long way round.
