Magnetic north actually moves over the years. Your direction can shift too. Recheck it sometimes.

Even the reference point drifts. Magnetic north wanders over the years, which means a heading that was correct when you set it can quietly stop being correct without anybody doing anything wrong. Your own direction works like that. What you wanted at thirteen was a real answer for thirteen, and holding to it out of loyalty rather than conviction is how people end up years into something they no longer chose.

Ask yourself once this week whether you still want what you are working toward. Not to abandon it. Just to check the needle against the map rather than assuming.
