A bathroom scale can’t measure how strong you got. Pick the right instrument before you judge your progress.

An instrument reports only what it was built to report, and the wrong one will give you a true number about the wrong thing. Plenty of real progress is invisible to the measure people reach for first, so you can be improving steadily and reading failure off the dial. The number is not lying. It is answering a question you did not ask.
Decide what you are actually trying to change this week, then pick a measure that matches. Strength is reps and load, skill is how often the hard thing works, fitness is how fast your breath comes back.
Are you judging your progress with the wrong measure?
