An echo only gives back what you shouted. Check what you’re putting out before you complain about what comes back.

A lot of what you get back from people is a return on what you sent out. Groups tend to reflect. Sarcasm comes back as sarcasm, effort comes back as effort, and the room you are complaining about is partly a room you helped set. That is not the whole story, since plenty happens to you that you did not start, but it is the part you can do something about.

Before the next complaint about a friend group or a team, watch your own output for a week. Count how often you are the one reaching out, and how often you say the warm thing first.
