Patience with someone who learns slower than you is a test of character, not intelligence.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being quicker at something says nothing about how you will behave toward someone who is not. The temptation is to treat your own speed as a kind of permission: to sigh, to take over, to explain in a particular tone. What that reveals is not ability but what you are like when you hold an advantage.
Watch your tone this week with whoever is behind you at something. The new kid on the team, the sibling with the homework, the trainee on your shift. Explain it twice without changing your voice, and let them do the slow version themselves.
Who do you lose patience with for learning slowly?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
