The last ten minutes of class feel like an hour because you’re counting them. Counting is the slow part.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Attention is what stretches time. Watching the clock gives your mind nothing else to do, so every unit of waiting gets fully registered, which is how boredom manufactures itself. The ten minutes are the same ten minutes, and the counting is what adds the weight.
Give those minutes something to land on this week. Reread your notes, write tomorrow’s list, plan the first thing you will do after practice. Not to be productive, only to stop measuring. Time you are not counting goes somewhere by itself.
Which part of your day drags because you watch the clock?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
