Patience doesn’t mean staying somewhere that keeps hurting you. Waiting for change isn’t the same as accepting harm.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Patience belongs to things that are growing, not to things that are damaging you. Hoping a situation improves is reasonable, but staying while it keeps hurting you is a different arrangement, and calling it patience makes it harder to see clearly. Being someone who endures is a good quality, and it can be used against you.

If something has been hurting for a long time, you are allowed to say so out loud to one person you trust. A friend, a relative, a teacher, a counsellor. You do not have to decide anything today. Seeing the difference between waiting and enduring is enough for this week.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Is there a situation you are enduring and calling it patience?
