The awkward phase isn’t a detour on the way to being good. It’s part of the route.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being bad at something new is not an obstacle between you and the skill. It is the first section of the skill, since no version of learning starts at competent, and treating the clumsy part as a problem makes it feel like evidence you should not be doing this. Everyone good went through exactly the stage you are embarrassed by.
Name where you are this week rather than hiding it. Say out loud that you are new at this and expect to be bad for a while. Then put in the hours while being bad, because that is the only road there is.
What stage of yours are you treating as a wrong turn?
